How I came up with the name SCUTTLEBUCKS

I was thinking about having a fun site where I share ideas and beneficial strategies, systems, techniques and ways of thinking around making money online, in particular. So I started speaking out loud some words that just came to me that sounded fun, thinking perhaps I could combine some of the words to be more memorable.

What’s more colorful and fun than Skittles, I thought?! As I spoke that out, next flowed the word scuttlebutt. As I thought about bringing the money focus to it, “scuttlebucks!” just popped out of my mouth. So there you have it!

Welcome to the Scuttlebutt about Making Big Bucks Online!

My heart has been calling me to create an online gathering place that could encourage people to step up to both the courage and the strategic view they needed to start living their biggest dreams faster than ever.

Over the years I have felt the frustrations of being around people who didn’t believe in taking the risks they thought you might have to take to get where your heart is really pulling you to go. Yes, they meant well and didn’t want me to get hurt or be disappointed, or even to put the family’s finances in jeopardy. I get that!

But I also realized I didn’t need the drag and pull down of their negative energy on me. It was holding me back, weighing me down, keeping me stuck and in fear – when what I really needed was a clear path and a boost up as I was surrounded with those who’d gone before, who had burst through and made it out of that small limiting box of staying small, living in a “wishing and hoping” cloud of doubt.

My strongest desire became about being plugged into a community of people feeling this same compelling call forward and upward – to a place we would truly help and encourage each other along the way. A place where we could finally find that clear path and start seeing straight, with our heads out of the clouds, knowing what it would take to actually get going and moving ahead with the confidence that we were going to get somewhere amazing this time!

As I searched and learned and reached out for help, I was able to make great strides in the direction of my biggest dreams. I had to admit that, even though you could have had business success in the offline world, that didn’t necessarily translate to being automatically successful online. They have similarities, yet major differences in the way you market and the type of business you choose that best fits you and the lifestyle you desire. I’ll share more of my story and findings along the way.

Anyway, that’s what this site is all about. I wanted to create a place where there was integrity, caring, and support. Where the BS (BS get-rich-quick type programs plus Belief Systems that are not supporting you) can be called out. And where people could realize they really CAN have all they dream of if they are willing to look at the truth about themselves – MINDSET which leads to Actions and therefore RESULTS – plus some Real Online Business Principles that will take them down the road to success.

ScuttleBucks name meaning: A combo of “bucks” (money) & “scuttlebutt” for the purpose of having a discussion around money matters.

Here’s what I found about the word “Scuttlebutt” in Wikipedia:

Scuttlebutt in slang usage means rumor or gossip, deriving from the nautical term for the cask used to serve water (or, later, a water fountain).

The term corresponds to the colloquial concept of a water cooler in an office setting, which at times becomes the focus of congregation and casual discussion. Water for immediate consumption on a sailing ship was conventionally stored in a scuttled butt: a butt (cask) which had been scuttled by making a hole in it so the water could be withdrawn. Since sailors exchanged gossip when they gathered at the scuttlebutt for a drink of water, scuttlebutt became Navy slang for gossip or rumors.
