Why You Are Not Consistently Making Money Online
There could be lots of reasons for any individual, but I’d like to share with you the most common and critical so that you can recognize the hindrances and know exactly what you need to do to become consistently successful making money automatically online.
- Too many ideas
- Following too many gurus
- Too many choices of business models and things you could do
- Starting things but never completing them
- Giving up too soon, at the first hurdle you have
If you checked off any of those in your head, there is help and you can change things around fairly quickly.
So what can you do instead?
How about the opposite of everything you just read?!
Let’s see what this would look like for starters:
Too Many Ideas
Narrow things down to one idea to focus on. Find one problem and one solution for a narrow type of audience you want to help and that can generate some income as you build a relationship with them and provide a solution that makes sense and they want it.
Too Many Gurus
Trying to learn from everyone and follow everybody can be self-defeating. Not only will you and your inbox be overwhelmed, but you will probably be dazed and confused which can lead to analysis paralysis. This can be a bit of addiction, where you are waiting for the next best thing to come out that will be the greatest thing and fit you perfectly with everything you were looking for.
This leads to the BSOS or Bright Shiny Object Syndrome. You get in the habit of buying one thing after another, thinking you might need to have that tool or know that technique or will soon use that software program that promises to make all your dreams come true.
Perhaps BSOS should stand for BS Overwhelm Syndrome instead! You need to learn which gurus are for real and have great programs that really work, that they are doing this themselves and that they are a good teacher with a system that really works, along with support to help you overcome any places where you get stuck.
The first thing you might want to do is go through your emails and unsubscribe to a lot of useless ones. Then go through all the programs you’ve already purchased and see what might make sense for you to step into wholeheartedly.
Too Many Choices
Having access to the information superhighway of the internet is great! But it can be overwhelming in knowing where to start and what kind of business model would work best for you.
If you can start by narrowing down the kind of lifestyle you want, how much time you have or want to dedicate each day to your business, what your monetary goals are – both short-term satisfaction and longer-term financial freedom goals, and the type of tasks you would enjoy or be okay with doing. Also, what are your interests that you know a lot about, have a passion for, or would love to learn more about? Asking yourself these questions is a start in the right direction.
Next, you will need to identify the types of business models there are and find the one that best suits you.
For example, you could have an e-commerce store to sell things. From there you could choose whether you want it to be on Shopify, Etsy, eBay, Amazon, or a different platform altogether. There are models where you don’t even have to have your own store, but can come up with designs for products that companies will make and ship for you.
Do you want to sell products you make yourself and ship, or do you prefer dropshipping, where you only pay for the item after a sale and have the supplier send it to your customer?
Maybe you would like to have your own branded product line and will need to find a private label supplier to make and label them for you. If you want your brand on Amazon, you can either ship a supply of inventory to them to warehouse and ship out for you automatically, or you can list it there and fulfill the sales yourself.
This is just one type of business model with some of the options for how you run a business that suits your lifestyle and your budget and investment of time and money. Read more about various other business models here.
Starting But Not Finishing
When you are in overwhelm or are in the mode of the highs and lows of the BSOS rollercoaster, it is easy to start new projects with gusto and then at the first sign of difficulty let things fizzle out where you get stuck. Before you can figure out what you need to do to get past it, the next BSO might show up and you leave the last to go onto to the next, which always seems better and what you were really looking for without any of the problems of the first – or so it seems.
If you find yourself repeating this pattern too often, it is a good thing to be aware of it and see what you can do to change it.
DID YOU KNOW…
All you have to do to be successful online is to finish ONE business set up all the way through to having a bucket ready to receive money with a system that sends traffic there on a regular basis. That’s it!
How hard can it be, you may ask?! Well, if it were that easy, everyone would be doing it!
And since I bet you expect a lot of yourself, you’re probably asking yourself, “If they can do it, why can’t I seem to figure this out? What’s wrong with me?!”
It’s not that it’s really difficult to do. It’s that so many people do not have the habit of seeing things through to the finish and getting them to work as they work through the problems and challenges along the way. After all, you are learning something new and you should expect there to be a few bumps along with a learning curve until you get things sorted out and working smoothly for you.
And there are other reasons why you might not have yet completed a whole “funnel” to the money, which I will go into in a future post.
Giving Up Too Soon
I love the quote that Winston Churchill spoke to Great Britain when they were in their darkest hour during World War II:
“Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in, except to convictions of honour and good sense.“
― Winston Churchill, Never Give In!: The Best of Winston Churchill’s Speeches
Notice how many times he said “never”? He wanted to seal it in the minds of the British that he meant business and there was no Plan B.
Have you made the decision that there is no Plan B in your life? Are you dedicated to going after finding, working, and honing your online business until it consistently produces the kind of results you desire?
Once there, the hardest work will be done and you can ramp it up and scale up the income as much as you desire. I believe you will be surprised at what you can really do once you Decide, Commit, and Take ACTION.
One day at a time, one step at a time till you get there – no matter how you feel! Just get a routine and a habit of doing whatever it takes every day. Then see it through and know that this will be life-changing once you have your internet business asset working for you!
I believe in you! Will you choose to believe in yourself too?! Then let’s get to it!
